We are pleased to provide this announcement to all our friends in the industry who we have had the pleasure of working with through the years. We look forward to working with you in the future. It would be a pleasure to hear from you and hopefully be of assistance with your latest projects.
    Welcome to MARITIME DIRECTIONS...

Maritime Directions is a specialized consulting company providing services to the port, marine and maritime industries. Founded in 2006, projects have included a variety of specialized analysis, studies and plans for public and private clients.

Mr. Charles A. Towsley is the founder and President of Maritime Directions and is widely known throughout the industry as the former Port Director at the Port of Miami-Dade, holding that position for over eight years through July, 2006. As the Director, he was responsible for the management and administration of all the day-to-day port operations, strategic planning, and development at the port. The port's capital improvement plan included approximately $350 million in cruise and cargo projects. The seaport homeports 18 mega class vessels for the world's leading cruise operators. Under his tenure, the Port of Miami was the first port in Florida to exceed the one million TEU mark in 2003. The seaport's performance under the leadership of Mr. Towsley's tenure demonstrated a commitment to good government combined with sound financial business practices. He is knowledgeable and experienced with the federal and state maritime system and has regularly traveled to Washington and Tallahassee to meet with elected officials and administrators on maritime issues. Towsley has also testified before federal and state legislative commitees on these matters.

Prior to Towsley's appointment to the Port of Miami-Dade, he was the Managing Director for the Tampa Port Authority and served there from 1991-98. Towsley's duties included the port administration, management, policy, strategic planning, bond financing negotiating port usage agreements, and maritime capital infrastructure development, including the Port of Tampa's new Channelside cruise terminal and entertainment/retail development.

Prior to his time with the Port of Tampa, he was Manager of Development at the Hamilton Harbour Commission in Ontario, Canada. Before joining the port authority full time as a maritime industry consultant, he was Sr. Vice-President of Planning for The Planistics Group in Ontario, Canada, specializing in marine projects.
